1) Mythology
Minerva is the roman name of the Greek goddess Athena. She was the virgin goddess of music, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving crafts, and magic. She is often depicted with her sacred creature, an owl usually named as the "owl of Minerva" or the “owl of Athena” which symbolized her association with wisdom and knowledge.

She was born with weapons from the head of Jupiter. After impregnating the Titaness Metis, Jupiter recalled a prophecy that his own child would overthrow him. Fearing that their child would grow stronger than he and rule the Heavens in his place, Jupiter swallowed Metis whole. The Titaness forged weapons and armor for her child while within the father-god, and the constant pounding and ringing gave him a headache. To relieve the pain, Vulcan used a hammer to split Jupiter's head and, from the cleft, Minerva emerged, whole, adult, and bearing her mother's weapons and armor.

She is the virgin patroness of Athens. The Athenians founded the Parthenon on the Acropolis of her namesake city, Athens (Athena Parthenon), in her honor.

2) Short description
The Minerva Beach Hotel is a small family 3 star hotel with 15 different and spacious rooms and suites. It includes a restaurant, bar and patio next to the hotel own beach. All the rooms have at least 1 balcony with front, side or sea view. Most of the rooms have partially or full sea view.
All rooms are equipped with all comfort for perfect holidays.
We offer our guests Bed and Breakfast (BB) or half board (HB). Full board is available on request.

3) Location
The Minerva Dore Hotel is located in Agia Marina, 8km from the city center of Chania. 25km from the airport and 20km from the port of Souda (Chania). The bus stop is 100m from the hotel. (Buses are running every 30 minutes and take 15 minutes to Chania).
The city center of Agia Marina is in walking distance (+/- 10 minutes). The center of Platanias is about 3km away.
